A comprehensive network of boat sewage pump-outs and hopper facilities has recently been installed around the Gippsland Lakes. A brochure "Protecting the Gippsland Lakes" describes the network and how to operate the facilities.

It is in the process of being updated. In support of the project a joint letter from the Board and the Environment Protection Authority has been sent to boat mooring licensees around the Lakes encouraging their support and compliance.
